Birthday thoughts ...

Hi Joanne,
Today is my 42nd birthday and I find myself reflecting on the things in life that matter most to me. There is only one thing that comes to mind ... Family!!

Family can be incorporated as immediate and extended. I have always seen the DQ's as extended family, (unless Mike and I run away and get married - because I have always found him to be quite sexy). Since Bonesy and Adam first played hockey together in Major Novice, our two families have always hit it off in fine fashion.

Our families share something else in common, that demon word known as cancer. As some people know my wife Janet was diagnosed with breast cancer in August 2001 and not a day goes by when I don't reflect on what has happened since then. I frequently find myself thinking about Joanne and wonder how this amazing woman can do the things that she does. In the last year or so I have seen Joanne attend hockey rinks and baseball diamonds to watch her beloved Bonesy play. I feel that Dean's infectious smile helps subside some of Joanne's pain, therefore making the trip to the sporting event completely worthwhile.

Mike, I pray for our wives all the time and believe that God does weird and wonderful things for a purpose. Accepting these things is the hardest of all.

We love Joanne and the DQ family with all our hearts. God Bless.

Joanne, thanks for letting me share my Birthday with you on your Blog.

John, Janet, Adam and Samantha Anderson

Comments:
John, your comment about extended family is quite right. Joanne and Mike as well as all of the d'Entremonts and Daquanos have a huge extended family of relatives and friends who, since Joanne was first diagnosed more than seven years ago, have provided and continue to show their love and support in so many ways. We are all truly blessed to be a part of such a wonderful extended family.

God bless you all.

Jeannine
