From Cincinnati ...
Hi Jo... Kisses and Hugs from your favorite cousin in Cincinnati... OK, I’m your only cousin in Cincinnati, but it makes me feel special anyway. I am so glad that I got to see you a few weeks ago... You looked fantastic, except of course for that hang nail on your big toe. It was wonderful to share a few smiles and talk about the old days. We laughed, reminiscing about the many times I drove up from Waterloo on my motorbike, just so we could drive past Mike’s house 37 times in one hour. Perhaps we should have driven into his driveway and knocked on the door... Nah, what fun would that have been.
When we weren’t driving past Mike’s house we went to the “DQ,” ate French Fries, sipped on cool thick milkshakes, and Oh, yah, talked about Mike... It was great fun!
Do you remember when I picked you up and we drove from Georgetown to Waterloo on the back roads. I told you that we went that way because it was more scenic, but truth be told, it was longer, and as long as we were driving on the bike with the wind blowing in our faces, I couldn’t hear a damn word that you said. It was the first time that I spent more than two minutes with you and didn’t hear Mike’s name come out of your mouth. Of course, my sweet silence soon ended upon arrival in Waterloo. I’m sure that you remember the rest of the story... Hint... We didn’t talk about the weather.
Ironically, it was because of Mike that you and I became so close. He gave you a reason to “need” me. I started out as a desperate sounding block in your efforts to get and keep Mike in your life, and you started out as a great excuse for me to get a little extra riding time on my cool new motorbike. In the end you got what your really wanted... Mike, but we both got something that neither us expected. We went from being cousins... to being FRIENDS. I am proud to be your cousin, but I am honored to be your friend.
You have more TRUE FRIENDS... than anyone that I know. This can only be a testament to the wonderful person that you are. You are the essence of, selflessness, thoughtfulness, trustworthiness, caring, perseverance, tolerance, pride, and inner strength. You are the true definition of a FRIEND...
