My Favourite Joanne Story
(One of them anyway.)
By the words being written here you may be hard pressed to believe that Joanne and I actually fight in our relationship. (Sorry guys, to so many people she is Jo. To me, she has always been, and will forever be Joanne.)
Anyway, the fights - well - it's never usually MY fault, and I find it very difficult to push Joanne's buttons .... ahem. One robust and glorious yelling match was in the driveway at 73 Sargent Rd - our first castle. The subject of the argument shall forever remain forgotten because while pulling out of the driveay, Joanne the ever cautious backseat driver (from the passenger's seat) continued to berate me with her point of view but all the time was checking all the blindspots and making sure I wasn't going to do any real harm. I made my final, button-pushing remark. Joanne glanced to the side view mirror one last time, turned quickly towards me and yelled out her stern retort, "Yeah, but Objects in the Mirror May Be Closer Than They Appear!" ..... we were both stunned into silence ... and then erupted into that gut wrenching laughter which more than made up for the fight we were having.
To this day, I can still deflect a seethingly angry Joanne by that simple statement,
"Yeah, but Objects in the Mirror May Be Closer Than They Appear."
