My favourite Joanne story

Joanne and I met in our first year teaching up at Holy Cross School in Georgetown. We hadn’t a clue what ‘real’ teaching was all about but we struggled through it along with several other 1st year teachers on staff. Joanne and I ‘hit it off’ and even though I was transferred to a school in Oakville (closer to home) we still kept in touch. That October I was married and Joanne and Mike attended. Joanne and Mike were the only guests invited from my staff. I did what all good brides try to do, and sat them with guests that I thought they would get along with. Little did I know what an amazing job I did!!!! Their table was out of control!!!! They were dancing up a storm but also found time to pull a few pranks on another couple seated at their table!!!! By the way, the other couple never did say anything to me about it – and one of them works for our Board!!!!!!! For guests who didn’t know a soul at the wedding, Joanne and Mike certainly made an impression, albeit not necessarily a good one where the one couple was concerned!

I pulled out my wedding video yesterday for only the 2nd time in 16 years (the first time was a year and a half ago with Joanne and Mike) and watched it. Those were certainly happier times. There is quite a bit of video footage of Joanne and Mike on the dance floor. In fact, I think Mike and Joanne got as much airtime as Vito and I!!! There are priceless shots of Mike and Joanne dancing and singing to the ‘Time Warp’, ‘Paradise by the Dashboard Light’, “Can’t Touch This” and of course “Babe”. Wow – talk about classic songs!!!! I remember thinking that I had better stay in touch with Joanne as Mike and she were in so much of my wedding video!

Hoping the ‘good times’ give you strength,

Constance
