Dear Joanne, Mike, & family,
I have been reading the wonderful messages on the blog that have been sent to your family over the past few weeks. I can truly feel the love and support you all share with each other. I had the pleasure of meeting Joanne only two years ago at the Weekend to End Breast Cancer 60 km walk. I was walking with a group of close friends (Heather’s Heroes) and we kept running into the Hungry Hollow Hooters. Joanne and her group were being filmed for a documentary on women living with cancer and we of course tried to walk by while the cameras were running. I got to know Joanne better during the many get-togethers at our common friends Cam & Sheila. We would sit (drinking wine of course) and compare chemo stories and I felt a kinship with Joanne as many survivors do. I have asked God many times why certain people are dealt this “cancer’ card. It just dawned on me that I probably would never have crossed paths with Joanne if I hadn’t gotten this disease. Joanne, you continue to inspire me with your strength, courage and determination. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers every night.
Your friend Heather
