Like many others have mentioned on the blog, it is difficult to put our feelings into words, although we all still want to have the opportunity to share out great admiration for you Joanne.
I remember when you had your first battle with breast cancer and you were on the road to recovery. We saw you at Midnight Mass one Christmas Eve. You were wearing a fantastic black, knock out dress and a funky silver chain belt around your waist and such a great short hairstyle, you walked up to Communion with pride and confidence and a smile from ear to ear, I wanted to stand up and give you an ovation as I’m sure most of the parishioners did: instead I sat with my mouth wide open in amazement, as you walked over my way and gave me a hug and kiss.
On another occasion, I had a conversation with you while our children were participating in an Aikido class. Having a son that was reaching grade 7/8 at the time, we discussed teaching styles, philosophies and overall what to expect in those grades. I remember you said to me "I always cry at least once in front of my class". I said "that’s O.K. it shows that you are real". I knew then that you would have a positive influence on the students you have taught, and it is obvious from this blog that you have touched many of their hearts. Thank you.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
