A package came ...

A package came the other day.

A simple package with a letter from she whom had sent it. As with all of your words, she simply wanted to pass along a little bit of strength and condolence.

However, actions speak louder than words.

Not only did Kendryn write some beautiful words in her beautiful script, but because of my earlier blog about my favourite band being "Rush" and our song being "Entre Nous", (and I know it was at the urging of her brother Brent) she used her contacts to have Geddy Lee, Rush's bass player and lead singer send along a copy of their latest DVD "R30" signed by him with some warm wishes.
My very special thanks to Kendryn and Brent Hutt.

Special thanks as well to Geddy Lee. Simple gestures can make such a huge impact. Your music (along with Alex and Neil) has had a massive impact on my life. I have learned from Neil's book how you as friends rallied around him in his time of need. It is no surprise to me that your are compassionate, but to do this for a fan, for an individual at this level, speaks volumes as to the kind of human being you are. I hope our paths cross some day so that we can share a little about life, love and our mutual love of music.

I have so many things I want to say to all my friends and family. For some reason I keep hearing Alex's guitar and Geddy singing Neil's words to this wonderful song about easing pain - at least that what it says to me.

All my love,
Mike

"Different Strings"

Who's come to slay the dragon?
Come to watch him fall?
Making arrows out of pointed words
Giant killers at the call?
Too much fuss and bother
Too much contradiction and confusion
Peel away the mystery
Here's a clue to some real motivation

[Chorus:]
All there really is
The two of us
And we both know why we've come along
Nothing to explain
It's a part of us
To be found within a song

What happened to our innocence
Did it go out of style?
Along with our naiveté
No longer a child
Different eyes see different things
Different hearts beat on different strings
But there are times
For you and me, when all such things agree

[Chorus]

Comments:
Mike,

Thank you for sharing this difficult time with others. In many ways, you are helping to ease the pain associated with death and dying by sharing these most intimate moments, memories and details of you, your family and your wife. You are truly an inspiration to others who will find themeselves in your situation one day. I feel blessed to have been able to share the last month with your family and friends through this blog, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
